The foundation of Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) was laid by the Czech king Charles IV in the half of the 14.century. Its origin and development was always connected with beneficial affects of the hot mineral springs. The old history of the spa is the chronicle of ascents and tumbles. The town was several times afflicted by catastrophic disasters – conflagrations (1604 – 1759) and floods (1582, 1821 and 1890). Thanks to the spa sector it has but always recovered and grew up into new beauty.

There were built up spa building of the Mill colonnade (1881), Geyser colonnade (1879), Bath III (1866), the new theatre and the luxurious object the Emperor’s Bath (1895). On the building nature of the spa the vienna architecture had a determinating influence personified by the pair of builders Ferdinand Feller and Hermann Helmer. The ample building activity came on top by building up of the International hotel Imperial in the year 1921. Beside the world known spa tradition Karlovy Kary is famous also for the cultural tradition we can meet here by every step. Let’s remind the most significant visitors at the turn of 18.and 19. Century J.W. Goethe, F. Schiler, T.Korner, Ludwig van Beethoven and N. Paganini. The alpha and omega of the town are its mineral springs, the life spa of the spa. For the spa purposes twelve main springs are being collected and used of which the spring Geyser is the most substantial, the wormest and the most famous (72° C, 2000 l per minute)

Visit of the factory “Moser”

The history of “Moser” is inextricably linked with the name of its founder Ludwig Moser (1833-1916). In 1857, this skilful engraver and talented businessman gained recognition for establishing the company that bears his name. Thanks to Ludwig Moser, his successors and the generations of Karlovy Vary glassmakers that followed, the Moser manufactory expanded and became a symbol in the history of the glassmaker's art.

From its beginning, Moser focused on the production of blown, hand-cut, engraved and painted glass. Moser glass soon gained a worldwide reputation for the quality of its glass, perfection of workmanship and artistry. These qualities helped to bring success at numerous exhibitions of applied arts in the 19th and 20th centuries. Moser products, outstanding in their purity, brilliance, elegance and classical proportions, soon became the proud possession of royalty, heads of state and well-known personalities throughout the world. The names of prominent owners such as Kings, Presidents, or Diplomatic Corps, with their own individual coat of arms, are the best proof of the value, popularity and first class quality of Moser. Due to this tradition, Moser is justifiably referred to as "The Glass of Kings" to this very day
